Disneyland Holidays and Events

Disneyland Resort planning guide

There is almost always something special happening at the Disneyland Resort. Halloween brings pumpkins, seasonal attraction overlays and after-hours parties. Winter fills both parks with holiday entertainment and festive food. Spring is known for cultural celebrations, food festivals and Disneyland After Dark events.

This Disneyland events calendar brings the important dates together in one place, explains which celebrations are included with regular park admission and shows how an event could affect your family’s park day. Use it to see what is happening during your trip, then follow the related guides for deeper planning help.

Last updated: September 2, 2026. Dates and offerings can change, so confirm park hours and entertainment schedules in the Disneyland app before your visit.

Holidays at the Disneyland Resort

November 13, 2026–January 6, 2027

The resort’s holiday season brings festive décor, seasonal ride transformations, a Christmas parade, nighttime spectaculars, Disney Festival of Holidays, Disney ¡Viva Navidad! and much more.

Today’s most important planning warning: Disney California Adventure closes to regular day guests at 6 p.m. on Oogie Boogie Bash nights. Even if you are not attending the party, its schedule can change which park makes the most sense for your family. Check the remaining dates below before making a park reservation.

Confirmed Disneyland Events and Entertainment for 2027

Disney has not released a complete 2027 seasonal-event calendar yet, but three major entertainment returns are official. The 2026 holiday season is also confirmed to continue through January 6, 2027.

February 2027Disneyland Park

“Remember… Dreams Come True”

A refreshed version of the Disneyland-focused nighttime spectacular will return in February. Projections are planned for Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street, U.S.A., the façade of “it’s a small world” and Rivers of America. Disney says projections and music are scheduled nightly, with fireworks added on select evenings.

February 2027California Adventure

Updated Original “World of Color”

An updated take on the original “World of Color” will begin at Disney California Adventure in February. Exact performance dates and viewing details have not yet been released, so check the entertainment calendar as your trip approaches.

Summer 2027Disneyland Park

“Magic Happens” Parade

The daytime parade will return to Disneyland Park in summer 2027. Disney has not announced its first performance date or whether it will run every day, so do not build a touring plan around it until the daily calendar is available.

Through Jan. 6, 2027Resort-wide

Final Days of the Holiday Season

Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, Disney Festival of Holidays and Disney ¡Viva Navidad! all continue through January 6. This makes the first week of January an opportunity to see holiday offerings after Christmas, though entertainment and operating schedules can vary by date.

Recurring 2027 Events Awaiting Dates

Disney has not announced 2027 dates for the following recurring events. Their inclusion here is a planning watchlist, not confirmation that every offering will return:

  • Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure
  • Celebrate Soulfully programming
  • Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival
  • Eggstravaganza
  • Disneyland After Dark, including any Sweethearts’ Nite, Star Wars Nite or Pride Nite offerings
  • Disney Jr. Let’s Play! events
  • Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort
  • Oogie Boogie Bash
  • Plaza de la Familia
  • Holidays at the Disneyland Resort and Disney Festival of Holidays

How we handle unannounced dates: Disneyland With Dad does not turn historical patterns into “confirmed” dates. As Disney announces 2027 festivals, parties and holiday seasons, this page will be updated with exact dates, locations and ticket requirements.

Disneyland Events by Month

Select a month to jump to the time of year you are considering. For months without confirmed 2027 dates, the description explains what commonly occurs and what you should verify before booking.

January at Disneyland

Confirmed for 2027: Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, Disney Festival of Holidays and Disney ¡Viva Navidad! continue through January 6. After the season ends, attraction overlays and decorations are removed on separate schedules, which can create temporary ride closures. Lunar New Year often arrives later in winter, but its 2027 dates have not been announced.

February at Disneyland

Confirmed for 2027: A refreshed “Remember… Dreams Come True” and an updated version of the original “World of Color” begin sometime in February. This month is also historically associated with Lunar New Year, Celebrate Soulfully and Disneyland After Dark events, but those 2027 offerings remain unconfirmed.

March at Disneyland

Spring has frequently brought the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, limited-time menus and special entertainment. Spring-break travel can increase demand even when there is no separately ticketed event. Disney has not announced March 2027 festival dates.

April at Disneyland

Food & Wine offerings and Eggstravaganza have often continued into April, while Disneyland After Dark themes have sometimes added early park closures at Disneyland Park. Easter timing and school breaks can affect crowds. No April 2027 event dates are confirmed yet.

May at Disneyland

May can bridge spring festivals and the summer entertainment season. In some years, Disneyland After Dark events continue into the month. For 2027, watch the official calendar for event announcements and for the daily entertainment schedule that will clarify when summer offerings begin.

June at Disneyland

Confirmed for summer 2027: “Magic Happens” returns to Disneyland Park, though Disney has not narrowed the debut to a specific month. June has also featured Pride Nite and Celebrate Soulfully programming in prior years. Neither is confirmed for 2027.

July at Disneyland

Summer entertainment is normally in full swing, and July 17 marks Disneyland’s anniversary. In 2027, “Magic Happens” is expected during the summer, but an exact start date and performance schedule remain TBA. Heat, long daylight hours and peak vacation travel are often bigger planning factors than festivals.

August at Disneyland

August is often a transition month. Summer programming may continue while Halloween décor and attraction overlays begin appearing later in the month. Halloween Time and Oogie Boogie Bash started in August 2026, but Disney has not confirmed their 2027 dates.

September at Disneyland

Happening in September 2026: Halloween Time, Oogie Boogie Bash and Plaza de la Familia. On party nights, DCA’s regular operating day ends early. September 2027 dates have not been announced, so use the 2026 schedule only as context—not as a promise of next year’s dates.

October at Disneyland

Confirmed for October 2026: Halloween Time continues through October 31, Oogie Boogie Bash runs on select nights through Halloween, and Plaza de la Familia continues throughout the month. October is popular for seasonal overlays, costumes and Halloween food, so park reservations and nearby hotels can become more competitive.

November at Disneyland

Confirmed for November 2026: Plaza de la Familia ends November 2. Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, Disney Festival of Holidays and Disney ¡Viva Navidad! begin November 13. The period between Halloween and the official holiday opening is a major transformation window, and individual decorations may appear gradually.

December at Disneyland

Confirmed for December 2026: The resort-wide holiday season runs all month. Expect festive décor, seasonal entertainment, holiday attraction overlays and Festival of Holidays. Christmas week and New Year’s Eve can bring especially high demand; verify park reservations, dining and entertainment well in advance.

Guide to the Major Disneyland Holidays and Events

Aug. 21–Oct. 31, 2026Included With AdmissionResort-wide

Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort

Halloween Time is the broad seasonal celebration that covers Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney and the resort hotels. It includes themed décor, seasonal food, character appearances, entertainment and attraction overlays. It is not the same thing as Oogie Boogie Bash: you can enjoy Halloween Time during normal park hours without buying a party ticket.

At Disneyland Park, the giant Mickey pumpkin and Main Street decorations create the classic fall atmosphere. Haunted Mansion Holiday provides the biggest seasonal attraction transformation. At Disney California Adventure, Cars Land receives a playful “Haul-O-Ween” makeover, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark offers a more intense evening storyline.

Dad’s Take: Halloween Time works well for families that want seasonal atmosphere without committing to an after-hours event. If DCA is part of your plan, check the Oogie Boogie Bash calendar first. A party you are not attending can still shorten your day by several hours.

Select Nights Through Oct. 31, 2026Separate TicketCalifornia Adventure

Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party

Oogie Boogie Bash is a five-hour after-hours event at Disney California Adventure. The party runs from 6 to 11 p.m., and the event ticket allows admission to DCA beginning at 3 p.m. It includes party-specific entertainment, treat trails, select attractions and Disney PhotoPass downloads from the event. A regular daytime ticket does not grant party admission.

Remaining 2026 party nights as of September 2:

September: 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27 and 29.
October: 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29 and 31.

Ticket inventory can change and many dates may be unavailable. Check Disney directly rather than assuming a listed date still has tickets.

Dad’s Take: Party guests should not spend the entire 3-to-6 p.m. mix-in period waiting for experiences that are available during regular hours. Eat, get oriented and identify the party-exclusive priorities before the event begins. Non-party guests should consider Disneyland Park or Park Hopper flexibility on Bash nights.

Aug. 21–Nov. 2, 2026Included With AdmissionCalifornia Adventure

Plaza de la Familia

Plaza de la Familia celebrates Día de los Muertos and the lasting bonds between generations. Paradise Gardens Park becomes the heart of the event, with mariachi music, live storytelling and entertainment, colorful art, food and opportunities to remember loved ones. The celebration is inspired in part by Coco, but its strongest moments focus on family and remembrance.

Dad’s Take: Do not treat this as a quick photo stop on the way to another ride. Check the day’s showtimes, arrive before the performance starts and give children time to look at the displays. It is a welcome slower-paced counterpoint to a ride-heavy DCA day.

Nov. 13, 2026–Jan. 6, 2027Included With AdmissionResort-wide

Holidays at the Disneyland Resort

The holiday season reaches both parks, Downtown Disney and the resort hotels. Disneyland Park highlights traditionally include A Christmas Fantasy Parade, “Believe…In Holiday Magic” fireworks on select nights, winter décor around Sleeping Beauty Castle, Haunted Mansion Holiday and “it’s a small world” Holiday. At Disney California Adventure, the season includes World of Color – Season of Light, Disney Festival of Holidays and holiday transformations in Cars Land.

Most holiday entertainment is included with the appropriate park ticket and reservation, but food, souvenirs, tours and premium viewing or dining packages cost extra. Entertainment can be modified or canceled because of weather and operating conditions.

Dad’s Take: Choose two or three holiday priorities instead of trying to collect every seasonal snack, show and attraction in one day. For families, a parade, one major overlay and time to enjoy the lights after dark usually creates a better memory than racing through a giant checklist.

Nov. 13, 2026–Jan. 6, 2027Food FestivalCalifornia Adventure

Disney Festival of Holidays and Disney ¡Viva Navidad!

Disney Festival of Holidays celebrates a range of seasonal traditions through live entertainment and the Festive Foods Marketplace. The event is included with DCA admission, while marketplace items are purchased separately. Disney ¡Viva Navidad! adds music, dancers, décor, food and appearances by Disney friends to the season in Paradise Gardens Park.

Dad’s Take: Treat the marketplace as a progressive meal. Share items, start before the busiest dinner window and avoid buying more food than your family can comfortably carry. Check the current Sip and Savor Pass terms before assuming every item offers equal value.

2027 Dates Not AnnouncedSeparate TicketDisneyland Park

Disneyland After Dark

Disneyland After Dark is a series of separately ticketed theme nights held after Disneyland Park closes to day guests. Past themes have included Sweethearts’ Nite, Star Wars Nite, Pride Nite, Disney Channel Nite and other limited celebrations. Event tickets have generally included a pre-party mix-in period, event entertainment, select attractions and PhotoPass downloads.

Disney says its 2026 After Dark events have ended. No 2027 themes or dates are currently confirmed.

Dad’s Take: The calendar matters even if you will not buy a ticket. An After Dark event can cause Disneyland Park to close early to regular guests, shifting crowds and making a Park Hopper more useful. Verify both parks’ hours before reserving your first park.

2027 Dates Not AnnouncedSeasonal FestivalCalifornia Adventure

Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure honors Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean traditions through food, entertainment, décor and character appearances. The festival is generally included with DCA admission, while food and merchandise cost extra. Disney has not announced whether or when it will return in 2027.

Dad’s Take: If Lunar New Year is offered during your trip, build the day around performance times rather than only the food booths. Entertainment gives the festival its identity and is easier to miss than the marketplace.

2027 Dates Not AnnouncedFood FestivalCalifornia Adventure

Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival

The spring festival showcases California-inspired food and beverages, culinary demonstrations and limited-time entertainment. Festival access is generally included with DCA admission; tasting portions, beverages and some special experiences cost extra. The 2026 festival ran from March 6 through April 27, but those dates should not be copied onto a 2027 itinerary.

Dad’s Take: Look at menus before the trip and make a short family tasting list. The festival is more enjoyable when the booths complement your day instead of becoming a long series of lines that displaces rides and shows.

Which Disneyland Events Need a Separate Ticket?

Usually Included With Park Admission

  • Halloween Time
  • Plaza de la Familia
  • Holidays at the Disneyland Resort
  • Disney Festival of Holidays
  • Disney ¡Viva Navidad!
  • Lunar New Year, when offered
  • DCA Food & Wine Festival access, when offered
  • Standard parades and nighttime spectaculars

Appropriate theme park admission and a park reservation are still required. Food, tours, merchandise and premium experiences are extra.

Requires a Separate Event Ticket

  • Oogie Boogie Bash
  • Disneyland After Dark events
  • Other experiences Disney specifically labels separately ticketed

A standard park ticket, Park Hopper or Magic Key does not substitute for an event ticket. Review the event’s entry time, reservation rules, age requirements and costume policy before purchasing.

How Special Events Can Affect Your Disneyland Trip

Early Park Closures

After-hours parties are the biggest calendar issue. Oogie Boogie Bash shortens the regular day at Disney California Adventure, while Disneyland After Dark can shorten the day at Disneyland Park. Guests without event tickets must leave the affected park at the posted closing time.

Park Reservations and Park Hopping

An event that is included with admission does not eliminate normal admission requirements. Make the correct park reservation and confirm current Park Hopper rules. On party nights, hopping can provide a useful escape from an early closure, but the other park may become busier as day guests relocate.

Crowds and Wait Times

Seasonal events can concentrate demand around popular overlays, entertainment and food marketplaces. Haunted Mansion Holiday, “it’s a small world” Holiday and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark can behave differently from their standard versions. A low-crowd month does not guarantee a low-crowd event night.

Entertainment Schedules

A festival may span several weeks without every show running every day. Fireworks can be limited to select nights and are weather dependent. Parade routes affect movement through the park. Check the Disneyland app shortly before and again on the day of your visit.

Seasonal Food

Limited-time menus create excitement—and lines. Review menus before arrival, identify a few priorities and note mobile-order availability. For food festivals, sharing tasting portions lets a family sample more without turning the entire day into one large meal.

Hotels and Downtown Disney

Some seasonal décor, dining and activities extend beyond the parks. Downtown Disney and the Disneyland Resort hotels can add holiday atmosphere to an arrival evening or rest day, although individual activities may charge a fee or require a reservation.

Dad’s planning shortcut: Start with the event calendar before choosing your park. Then pick one must-do seasonal attraction, one entertainment priority and one food priority. Build the rest of the day around normal family needs—meals, breaks, height requirements and bedtime—not around the fear of missing every limited-time offering.

Seasonal Disneyland Ride Overlays

Attraction overlays are one of the biggest reasons to visit during Halloween and the holidays. They can also create refurbishment closures before and after a season while Disney installs or removes the transformation.
